About
I love everything about the study of the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible. Language, literature, literary history, archaeology, topography, theology and even the lunatic fringe of crazies who predict the end of the world. The transition from Late Bronze to Iron I holds a special, all-consuming fascination for me. My first love is the study of this amazing text in all its contexts, especially texts related (however tenuously!) to the LBA/IA transition. I also love teaching and writing about it both in technical and popular settings.
Other interests include horses both in antiquity and today-we have 3 on our 10 acre mini-farm; the American West in lore and in reality; restoring and shooting vintage firearms; drystone masonry; vintage straight-razors; high-country hiking and some climbing...all enjoyed with my three children and my best friend, my wife with whom I've shared these inordinate passions and irregular avocations since 1979.
